DA (Darabgird) mint. Struck by ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Zubayr, rival caliph [AH 60-73 (AD 680-692)]. Dated YE 53 (AD 684/5). Arab-Sasanian type. Draped bust to right, wearing mural crown with two wings and star-in-crescent; stars flanking, ribbon on shoulder; all within double border with pellets and star-in-crescents in margin; behind head, 'GDE ʾp̄zwt'' ('[may his] glory increase' in Pahlavi); before head, 'ʾp̄dwlʾ ʾmyl Y wlwyšnykʾn' ('ʿAbd Allah, Commander of the Believers' in Pahlavi); in the outer margin, 'bism Allāh' ('In the name of Allah' in Arabic) / Fire altar with ribbons flanked by attendants; star and crescent flanking flames; date to left, mint to right; all within triple border with star-in-crescents in margin.
