PROTO-SUMERIAN SEAL WITH ANIMALS
CIRCA 3000 B.C.
1 5/8 in. (37.4 grams, 40 mm).

Plano-convex stamp seal with design of two crouching quadrupeds placed tête-bêche; supplied with a museum-quality impression.

PROVENANCE:
Acquired in Europe in 2002.
European private collection.
This lot has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database, and is accompanied by an illustrated lot declaration signed by the Head of the Antiquities Department, Dr Raffaele D'Amato.

FOOTNOTES:
The motifs have been created using a drill, hence the rounded appearance.
