MEDIEVAL PORTUGUESE CAPITAL WITH SEATED FIGURES
LATE 13TH CENTURY A.D.

A carved limestone capital from a column with frieze of robed figures within a colonnade, each sitting on a chair facing and holding a book in the left hand; trefoils and other detailing to the canopy. 11 5/8 in. (12 kg, 29.5 cm wide). Fair condition. [No Reserve]

PROVENANCE:
Collection of Mr Pierre Nicolas Roller, bibliothecaire and curator of the Grand Ducal Court.
Accompanied by an academic report by Dr Raffaele D'Amato.
This lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate no.11253-189571.
