Accompanied by an information label reading: 'Welsh gold. Mawddach River, Gwynedd, North Wales. Small flakes of real gold from the famous Mawddach River (Afon Mawddach) near Dolgellau. They were panned from the river several decades ago and are from an old collection. The Mawddach river and estuary has been the centre of gold mining for centuries. Welsh gold has traditionally been used to create wedding rings for members of the Royal family.'
