Stone Age Neolithic Fatjanovo Culture Battle Axehead

Late 3rd-early 2nd millennium BC

A large and finely polished boat-shaped axe in dark grey stone, with expanded asymmetric convex cutting edge tapering to shouldered and collared 'hammer' butt, drilled to receive handle. 975 grams, 21cm (8 1/4"). Very fine condition.

Provenance
Property of a European collector; formerly in an old European collection formed in the 1980s.
