Roman Lion Head Mount

1st-3rd century AD

A finely detailed bronze mount in the form a lion's head with strong muzzle and brows, mouth slightly open, voluminous mane, fur detailing to the face; hollow to the underside with remains of lead filling. 47 grams, 35mm (1 1/4"). Very fine condition. [No Reserve]

Provenance
Property of a Dutch gentleman; formerly in an old Dutch collection formed in the 1970s.
