Stone Age Late Chalcolithic Paddle Sceptre

4th millennium BC

A sceptre made of fine-grained granodiorite with pointed round-section shaft and paddle finial. 1.1 kg, 42cm (16 1/2"). Very fine condition. Rare. [No Reserve]

Provenance
Property of a European gentleman; acquired on the German art market in the 1990s.

Footnotes
The item resembles items discovered in the kurgans in Transcaucasia, especially the cemetery of Soyuq Bulaq (Azerbaijan) and attributed to the Leilatepe archeological culture.
