GREEK LARISSAN HORSE FINGER RING

Circa 450-350 BC. A cast silver-gilt finger ring comprising a round-section hoop rising to an elliptcal, waisted bezel with an incuse figure of a prancing horse with raised forelegs and tail. Silver-gilt, 20.8 grams, 26.5 mm. overall (Approximate size British W, USA 11 1/4, Europe 25.6, Japan 24).

Condition
Extremely fine condition, complete and wearable.

Ex Aston collection.

Footnotes
The horse was the symbol of Thessaly, where the city of Larissa is situated, and appears on many early coins of the region.
