Circa 18th-19th century AD. A decorative iron helmet formed as a plain skull with ornamental plates: to the crest, three overlapping disc plates with dentilled edges and attachment rivets; to the forward edge, a u-shaped plate with spiked upper edge and smaller wing projection to each side; to the upper centre and lower sides of the plate, a rosette with central boss; behind the plate on the skull four more rosettes and a fifth to the rear; above the crest a triangular-section spike with rosette detail to the shaft.

Acquired on the London art market in the 1960's.
