Medieval Gold Monogram Ring with Natural Diamond

13th-15th century AD

A gold finger ring with D-section hoop and flared shoulders, facetted bezel and inset natural pyramidal diamond, monogram to the underside incorporating 'LAVBEFR'(?). 9.70 grams, 25.03mm overall, 17.49mm internal diameter (approximate size British O, USA 7, Europe 14.98, Japan 14) (1"). Very fine condition.

Provenance
Property of a UK gentleman; acquired from a London gallery in the late 1980s; formerly from a private European collection, formed in the 1960s and 1970s, supplied with geologic report No. TL005218, by geologic consultant Dr R. L. Bonewitz.
