Anglo-Saxon Gilt Button Brooch

6th century AD

A bronze button brooch of Avent's Class H with flange to the rim, inner collar, central helmetted mask with scaphoid mouth; remains of lug and catch to the reverse. 43.8 grams, 43mm (1 3/4"). Fine condition.

Provenance
Property of a West Sussex, UK, gentleman; found by his grandfather in West Sussex in the early 1990s.
