Viking Entwined Snake Pendant

9th-11th century AD

A bronze pendant formed as a coiled serpent, possibly representing Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent; punched scale decoration to the body and suspension loop. 10.4 grams, 52mm (2"). Fine condition. [No Reserve]

Provenance
From an important central London collection; previously in a European collection in the 1990s; formerly acquired on the German art market in the early 1980s.
