An entire Late Bronze Age founder's hoard comprising: a complete looped palstave axe, with a fragment of another; with five complete or almost so socketted axes, some showing linear ornament to the sockets, with fragments of three others; with a small socketted gouge and together with three pieces of copper 'bun' ingot and a conical waste casting sprue. 1 3/8 - 4 1/2 in. (3.4 kg total, 3.5-11.5 cm). [15, No Reserve]
PROVENANCE:
Found whilst searching with a metal detector near Dunstable, Bedfordshire, UK.
Acquired from a Cambridgeshire antiques shop circa 1995.
Private collection of a Suffolk, UK, gentleman.
