Roman Cross Brooch Collection

3rd-4th century AD

A mixed group of cruciform brooches comprising: one cross pommée, reverse with spring, pin and catchplate; one expanding arm cross with punched pellet-in-annulet motif to centre and each arm, connected by wavy lines, representing the five wounds and blood(?) of Christ, pierced lug and catchplate to reverse; one with domed arm terminals with raised collars, spring, pin and catchplate to reverse. 27.1 grams total, 29-37mm (1 - 1 1/2"). Very fine condition. [3, No Reserve]
