EGYPTIAN BRONZE HEAD OF BES APPLIQUé
19TH DYNASTY, 1295-1186 BC
4 1/4" (114 grams, 11 cm including stand).

A cast appliqué of Bes's head with triple-feather headdress, D-shaped ears, ribbed brow and pellet nose; hollow to the reverse; mounted on a custom-made stand.

PROVENANCE:
Ex Dudley Collings collection, Suffolk, UK, thence by descent; acquired by Collingsin Egypt in 1897; ex Grenvilles collection; found Luxor in the early 19th century, with old collection card signed by Collings.
