Byzantine Bone Lidded Pyxis with Applicator

6th-9th century AD

A carved bone cylindrical pyxis with raised concentric circles to the lid and base, separate applicator with rib detailing. 36.5 grams total, 55-75mm (3/4 - 3"). Fine condition. [2]

Provenance
Property of a Bristol collector; formerly part of his father's collection formed between 1960-late 1970s.
