GREEK ATTIC RED FIGURE OINOCHOE

Circa 4th century BC. The decoration enlivened with added white slip, showing a battle between an Arimasp rider wearing typical 'oriental' patterned dress and Phrygian cap over her long hair, holding a spear in her right hand, her horse standing on the plumed helmet of her enemy; the warrior wearing a chlamys and cap, with shield held in his left hand, and a spear in his right; rosette in the field, strokes at the shoulder with ovolo below, large palmette design under the handle which supports a mascaroon on either side of the base of the channel spout. Ceramic, 485 grams, 30 cm high.

Condition
Extremely fine condition, with some calcite deposits still remaining.
