WESTERN ASIATIC ANATOLIAN FARMER PLOUGHING A FIELD WITH A PAIR OF OXEN
2nd-1st millennium BC

A bronze statuette comprising two oxen, each with curved horns, muzzle, tassle below the neck and plates to the outer front leg; both under a single yoke formed as two ridged crescents and round-section shaft, meeting a triangular plaque; to the end of the shaft a standing male figure wearing a belted tunic and round cap, left hand to the vertical shaft, right hand holding a rod. 671 grams, 21cm (8 1/4").

Condition
Very fine condition.

Provenance
Previously in a private collection, 1980; previously with Pierre Bergé & Associés, Archéologie, Paris, 29 May 2013, lot 157 (32,000-35,000 euros); accompanied by copies of the relevant Pierre Bergé catalogue pages.
