Chinese Amber Guanyin and Acolyte Carving

19th-20th century AD

A carved amber figurine of Guanyin nimbate and supporting a lotus plant on the left hand, right hand raised in a gesture of instruction, seated on a rock plinth with small attendant or acolyte to the side; mounted on a custom-made stand. 267 grams total (930 grams with box), 16cm with stand (box 23 x 18cm) (6 1/4" (9 x 7")). Fine condition.

Provenance
Property of a London collector, formerly with Dreweatts Auctions, Berkshire, UK; previously in an old English collection.
